Semester Examinations for Regular and Arrears Candidates

Theory:

Students who have arrears, absentees and students who are eligible under condonation are permitted to take only the SSE, odd or even as the case may be.

However, on completion of the course if a student has failed in only one theory paper of the penultimate semester, he can appear for that paper in the even semester supplementary examination.

Practical:

Supplementary examinations are not conducted for practicals. Failed students have to appear for the subsequent ESE Practicals only, odd or even as the case may be.

However, a student who fails in just one practical examination in the final semester or in the penultimate semester if the final semester consists of only project work, can appear for the practical in the ensuing even semester supplementary examinations.

Project Report:

The project report has to be submitted before the due date. A student who fails to secure the passing minimum in the project work has to revise and resubmit it in the next even semester examination.

Viva-voce:

Viva-Voce examinations are conducted only during the even semester examinations.
A student who fails to submit the project work in time, who fails in viva-voce with no other arrears can appear for the same in the even semester supplementary examination that follows.

Evaluation:

The semester examinations are purely external. i.e, All the question papers are set and answer scripts valued by competent examiners from other institutions and universities.

  • There is only one valuation for UG by external examiners.
  • There are minimum marks for a pass in CIA, ESE separately and in aggregate.
  • PG papers are valued under double valuation system - one internal and one external examiner.
  • If the mark difference between the first and the second valuation exceed a prescribed limit, the paper is reffered for a third valuation
