The Department was established in the year 2003 and offers
postgraduate programme in Bioinformatics. Welcome to the Department of Bioinformatics.
Department Vision
To be a premier Department by fostering and conducting
leading-edge informatics course and development, providing
Quality training, and generating knowledge from large diverse
volumes of Biology, Chemistry and Computer data.
Department Mission
To foster high quality, innovative, and multi-disiciplinary
post-graduate training in Bioinformatics
To generate Intellectual Property by creating knowledge
base, tools and methods to manage and understand
Large, diverse biological, chemistry, computer
science and medical datasets
To actively engage in Knowledge and Technology transfer
Laboratory facilities:
The Department provides excellent infrastructure and
conducive environment for learning. The Department is equipped with
State-of-the-art laboratory facility.
- We have Bioinformatics Lab with computers with internet and software facility.
- We have Biotechnology Lab with all modern
and technical instruments ex. Vb-Visual spectrophotometer.PCR,gel
documentation etc.
SYMPOSIA Conducted:
A National level SYMPOSIUM on " Emerging areas of bioinformatics "BIOBRAINS 06 " was
conducted on 2nd and 3rd March 2006.
