| BIO-TECHNOLOGY
Department Profile

The course was started
in the year 2003. The Department Offers undergraduate course in
Bio Techonology. The department also consists of well-equipped
laboratroy containing all sophisticated instruments such as Gel
documentation unit, fermentor, PCR, lyophillizer etc.
Laboratory Facilities:
Major Equipments
Bench top Fermentor
Small Laboratory scale fermentors are used in groups two to three
or more allow great flexibility in research. For the development
of fermentation process. Thus serveral experimental variables
with adequate controls can be tested side by side in these small
fermentors. In addition, the optimum fermentation conditions as
determined in these fermentors, often are applicable in "scale-up"
to fermentations in much larger fermentation tanks.
LYOPHILIZER:
It is other wise called freeze-drying. The Aqueous sample
is frozen at low temperature along the wall of the bottles
so that the water will sublime on application of a vacum at
completion of freeze drying. The solids occurring
originally in the sample are present as a dry powder.
