Department Profile
The Department has the pride of getting
started in the year 1968 to offer B.Com., with the
sole aim of providing facility for higher education
to the wards of Agriculturists in and around Mayiladuthurai. The
M.Com. degree course was started in the year
1975. The evening section of B.Com., and M.Com, courses were
started in the years 1984 and 2003 respectively. The Master of Philosophy(M.Phil) as a Full-time and Part-time course was started in the year 1985. The Ph.D. Programme as a Full-time and Part-time course was started in the year 1994.
COMMERCE ASSOCIATION
Commerce association, an
allied association of the college union, gives Opportunity for all
the students of the department to interact
with people of practical
exposure:
P.G. Nook was an opportunity to
the PG students to paticipate in seminars, group discussions
and quiz. Endowment lectures are arranged in the endowments
created by alumini in the names of former H.O.D's Prof.S.V
& DR.T.S. the department has arranged so far 13
seminars at various levels by inviting resource persons
from Industry, Trade and Business. Besides Management
accounting and income tax law and practice, one or two papers
on computer applications in business is offered into UG & PG programme.
Endowments
- Endowments were created by alumni in the
names of all our former HoD's. Prof. I. Kandasamy 2. Prof.
S. Venkataraman 3. Dr. T.
Srinivasan
4. Prof. P. R. chidambaram and 5 Dr.M. Tamilarasan for arranging
endowment lectures and to give scholarships to meritorious poor
students every year.
Industrial
visit
Industrial visit is arranged for the P.G. Students every year as
part of the curricular activities, units so far visited NLC, MRL,
NPKRR sugar mill P.P.Power project, Post trust Chennai, HMT, Mysore
sandal, Kochin Port Trust etc. Industrial visits and education
tours are arranged every year to the UG students
