| PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Department Profile
Right from the inception
of the college in the year 1955 the students took
active part in sports and games in the Intercollegiate and other recognized
sports Meet. When coeducation was started in the year 1984
the women students also took active part in
sports and games. Some of the athletes and players excelled and took part
in the All India Inter University level Sports Meet and Tournament and
also took part in State level and National Level Sports Meet and
Tournament.
Laboratory facilities:
A fully equipped Gymnasium was established
in 2001-2002 with the financial assistance from the Ministry of
youth Affairs and sports, Govt. of India.
Endowment Prizes:
- Thiru R.Narayanan memorial scholarship - Out standing sportsman of the year.
- Prof. P.Vijaraghavan Prize - Outstanding performance in games.
- Thiru. M.R.Gopalakrishnan Memorial Prize-Outstanding perfermance in sports,games and studies.
- Principal R.Balasubramanian endowment
Prize _ Outstanding sportsman of the year.
Training to students:
- Conducting coaching camps prior to Tournaments .
- To look after the physical Training
activities of the young scientists Programme - participants - 30
days during summer for three consecutive years for each batch.
