Campus Diversity Initiative(CDI)
Our college was selected by the Bharathidasan University for the
implementation of CDI. For the past three years 100 students
were enrolled in this programme every year and the thrust areas
selected by us were Environmental protection, Gender equality and
Human Rights. The student volunteers participated in all the
programmes (Seminars, Workshops) conducted by the
University.
Several
camps are conducted at villages to create awareness on
environmental pollution and its hazards with the help of street
plays and folklores. District collector, Revenue officials and the
heads of the civic bodies participate in these programmes. Free
medical checkups are organized and drugs are given free of
cost to the diseased persons with the help of the district health
officials.
Eminent
speakers are invited on the Eve of world women's day to impart
awareness on female infanticide, consumer protection,
women's right etc., to the women students. Competition are also
conducted on this occasion every year. CDI also helps the
rural women folk on Apicculture, Mushroom culture and Dairy
farming.
